Welcome to another edition of Mostly Summer Starting this hour with a few from the year 1978, which was another of my musical education years

 Hour 1

 Darkness on the Edge of Town is the fourth studio album by Bruce Springsteen, released on June 2, 1978

 Some Girls is the 14th British and 16th American studio album by the Rolling Stones, released in 1978 

Track: Before they make me Run,  Written and sung by guitarist Keith Richards,

 The Kick Inside is the debut studio album by English singer-songwriter and musician Kate Bush. It was released on 17 February 1978 and contains her UK number one hit, “Wuthering Heights“.

Track: Room for the Life

 Dire Straits is the debut studio album by the British rock band Dire Straits released on 7 October 1978 The album produced the hit single “Sultans of Swing“,

Track: Water of Love

 Coleford Music Festival is held to support the local businesses, organisations, performers, artists and groups from Coleford and the surrounding areas. 14th and 15th July. The festival starts at 1pm both days.

 The 2 top of the bill bands for Saturday on the main stage are  Forest Warriors,  four heavyweights of the FOD music scene, coming together to bring you raggatistic chilled vibes, bouncy reggae Rhythms and positive lyrical rhymes. With a stomps undertone these boys are bringing you a big sound from the woods !!

 And The Oysterband,  the award-winning band who bring passion, power and not a little poetry to folk and roots music. They make modern, folk rock & folk punk based British music, acoustic at heart, sometimes intense, sometimes rocking. Since 1978 they’ve toured in 35 countries  –  festivals, concerts, bars, rallies, jails, bring ’em on!

 The 2 Top of the bill bands for Sunday on the main stage are Crystal Balloon , An alternative rock band from Bristol & Chepstow, drawing on a range of influences, the resulting sound is a 21st century take on great Americana rock and roll combined with anthemic Brit Rock/Pop and heartfelt singer songwriter story telling,

 And headliners  The Jive Aces, The UK’s No. 1 Jive Swing Band.
Renowned worldwide for their high-energy spectacular showmanship, their viral video “Bring Me Sunshine” and for being the first live band to reach the final rounds of “Britain’s Got Talent”,

 Another event I came across is the Ledbury Fringe, most events are FREE,  now in it’s 3rd year, full details http://ledburyfringe.org.uk/ , it runs in conjunction with  Ledbury Poetry festival., 28th June – 8th July. Events are held in various locations around Ledbury.

 Sunday 8th July The Luke Doherty Band are at The Prince of Wales from 4.30

 On Thursday 5th July evening a duo Appleby Stone 2 members from the local band Appleby Kinsey will play at the St Katherine’s Barn. 8.00 pm

 On the Monday 2nd July Talitha Rise will be appearing playing tunes from her new album An Abandoned Orchid House, at St Katherine’s Barn, from 7 with 2 support acts

 Hayley Griffiths is an award winning Soprano and recording artist for both progressive rock and classical crossover genres. She was in a band called Karnataka, but is now going solo, her first single  from a forth coming album and live appearance

 A favourite band of mine is called Unitopia, they have disbanded but left some excellent music
