Mostly Summer Radio Show Playlist w/c 24th May 2018

Welcome to another edition of Mostly Summer Starting this hour with a few from the year 1974, which was another of my musical education years, a few tracks from artist’s appearing at Milefest 2018 and the Upton Blues festival. Plus some new ones that I have found.

 Hour 1

 Late for the Sky is the third album by American singer–songwriterJackson Browne, released in 1974

So Far is the fourth album by Crosby, Stills & Nash, their third as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and the first compilation album released by the grouping 1974. “Wooden Ships” is a song written and composed by David Crosby, Paul Kantner, and Stephen Stills, of which versions were eventually recorded both by Crosby, Stills & Nash and by Jefferson Airplane; Kantner was a founding member of the latter group.

461 Ocean Boulevard is a 1974 solo album by Eric Clapton that marked his return to recording after recovering from a three-year addiction to heroin. The album was released in late July 1974

 Milefest 2018 will be  a 24 acts over two stages festival on the 6th/7th of July in Hartpury,just outside of Gloucester. In the past we have had the some wonderful acts headline and have some super headline act in the bag for this year. It is also as a fundraiser which has raised over £30,000 in the last few year for Milestone special needs school Gloucester.

 Avygayle Smith is a 16 year old singer/songwriter based in Gloucestershire. She has been singing since a very young age, and loves to perform covers of songs in her own style to people, or perform her own songs to make an audience feel connected.She plays the piano, acoustic guitar, and sings of course! She sings in many choirs such as her school choir, Gloucester Cathedral Youth choir, and (GYC) Gloucestershire Youth Choir, and also sings in her school orchestra and jazz band

 Driven by a desire to create something lasting and beautiful, Nick Byrne has created his ‘Through The Tall Grass’ EP. Various lyrical symbols work their way onto the 5-song offering, many based on distinct visual memories

 Much of the inspiration behind Hannah Scott’s music can be found in her affinity with Italy. A year living and working in Tuscany in her late teens provided the backdrop to her early work and she has found her musical home with creative partner Stefano Della Casa, with whom she has been travelling between the UK and Italy to write and produce her forthcoming record, due out early next year Her EP The Space in Between

 British Singer/Songwriter, Steve Young’s music, has been described as “Country music with pop sensibilities” also as “Well crafted Pop songs with strong Country overtones”. The acoustic guitar pulls away from ‘Rock’ genre but the live show ‘Rocks’ far too much to be considered acoustic. The lyrics far too personal to be Folk but occasionally too ambiguous to be Blues, his album I found you There

Track: Your Love has Lifted Me

 Mark Morriss is a singer songwriter who famously made his name fronting English indie outfit The Bluetones. Mark fronted the four piece over a successful and fruitful 15 year period, scoring 14 top ten singles and 3 top ten albums, whilst touring the UK, Europe and Japan, before temporarily disbanding in 2011. his album The Tales of Mark Morris

 The Black Feathers, are a husband and wife roots music duo based in Gloucestershire, UK who play a blend of Folk and Americana, album soaked to the bone

 Hannah Aldridge is an Americana/ Folk artist originally from Muscle Shoals, Al. She is the daughter of the #1 hit songwriter and Alabama Music Hall of Fame inductee, Walt Aldridge, her album  Gold Rush

 Also in Upton on Severn is the Jazz Festival from  21st – 24th June A four day celebration of the Jazz, Swing and Blues music of the 1920s, 30s and 40s; music which grew out of the streets and clubs of New Orleans, New York, Chicago and Kansas City. Full details https://www.uptonjazz.co.uk/
